Background

I started in the gym mainly weight lifting and then got into running with park runs on Saturday mornings. After getting a little more serious with the gym I started in strongman.

Meanwhile, a friend convinced me to sign up for a marathon and from there cardio and endurance sports became a bigger interest along with completing triathlon and ultra-marathon to see where my limits are. Chris is to blame for most of the extreme stuff.

I also graduated from Northumbria University after studying Mechanical Engineering and held various Nuclear Engineering roles across the UK and Europe.

Best race memory

Kielder marathon. A brutal introduction to marathons and a real sense of comradery with other runners supporting when anyone is seen to struggle. A veteran marathoner helped me when I hit the wall and they stuck with me for the final stages.

Something I want to carry over to all my races is supporting other athletes

Favourite distance

Half marathon. The reason is this distance is a great introduction to endurance running and I believe everyone can complete a half and it's a great feeling to finish one.

Proudest thing you’ve ever accomplished

Ultra X Jordan. Specifically, day three on the 72km stage. Ready to give up for most of this day it was a true test for me that I wasn't sure I could complete. Thomas deserves so much credit for getting me through this day.

Background

I have always had a passion for fitness. This started in football leagues travelling and competing in tournaments at a young age PR at the local athletic club. This then transpired into training regularly at the gym. Personal circumstances completely changed my life and encouraged me to transform for the better. I decided to sign up for a 10k along with a friend, to raise money for a charity close to my heart, Down’s syndrome Scotland... looking back this unleashed the dog.

Best race memory

Ultra X Jordan day five, marching through the Wadi Rum desert alongside a doctor named Andrew. He was 60 years young and still completing ultra-marathons. This was a very humbling moment and one that brought me down to earth. It truly made me appreciate good health and seeing the achievements of others and what my future could be like if I continue to attain greater fitness and health. Andrew was a doctor and showed his truly kind nature when bursting blisters on my feet, he was happy to help, and I will never forget his kindness.

Favourite distance

ANY, this dog loves his walks whether it is a quick 5km or a couple of days round trip getting lost in the mountains. Sure, running is great for physical health but the real reason I enjoy getting the paws mucky is for my mental health. Nothing clears the head like a good run.

Proudest thing you’ve ever accomplished

Ultra X Jordan. We managed to raise around £10,000 for Down’s Syndrome Scotland which makes me so incredibly proud, all for an amazing cause. The support and love from everyone back home was truly insane. It really made this challenge incredible (alongside the culture and beauty of Jordan). It is a place like no other, the landscape and stars at night were a sight beyond belief. I truly felt invincible. The mission was a great success.

Background

My journey into the realm of endurance sports began with Ironman, where I quickly realized that lugging bikes and wetsuits onto planes wasn't my idea of hassle-free travel. So, I decided to shift my focus to running, hoping for a hobby with fewer logistical challenges. Little did I know, running came with its own set of adventures! Since making that switch, I've taken on races of all shapes and sizes, from speedy 5ks to grueling 240-mile ultramarathons. And I'm not done pushing my limits just yet.

Best Race Memory

One of the standout moments in my racing career was becoming Scotland's inaugural Moab 240 mile ultramarathon finisher, all while raising funds for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. It was a journey of sheer determination and a testament to the power of endurance.

Favorite Distance

I thrive on the variety that the running world offers, embracing challenges across all distances. If you can dream up a race, chances are I've tackled it, or it's on my to-do list. And if it's not, let's make it happen!

Proudest Achievement:

Among my proudest accomplishments is my first ultramarathon finish at Cold Hawaii 80k. Don't let the name fool you; this wasn't the sunny Hawaii you might envision. Instead, it was a day of running along the windswept Danish coastline in classic Scandinavian weather. We charged ahead, battling relentless winds and navigating the shoreline in the pitch dark. Separating from the pack, I found solace and determination, ultimately crossing the marathon mark, a new milestone for me. The scenery along the way and the emotional final stretch made this race unforgettable. Plus, it boasts the most unique race medal: a rock from the beach, bearing the race details handwritten in pen – a tangible symbol of my extraordinary journey.
